NEARLY three days into their occupation of the debating chamber of the Legislative Yuan, Taiwan's parliament, in Taipei, dozens of activists, mostly students, show no sign of flagging. They broke in on Tuesday evening, March 18th, and resisted attempts by the police to evict them overnight. Since
then, a stand-off has persisted. The police are stopping new arrivals from joining them, but allow in food and water. The protesters include a team of white-coated medics. They look well settled.

佔領台灣國會的行動已經將近三天，議場內的許多抗議者，其中多數是學生，還沒有舉白旗的跡象。他們在3月18日星期二闖入國會，通宵抵抗警察的驅逐。自那時開始，對峙便持續著。警察不讓新的參與者進入國會，但讓水還有食物進入議場。抗議者包含一群白袍醫師。他們看起來被妥當安置。三名主要反對黨民進黨的國會議員，在佔領行動前便開始70小時的絕食行動。他們輪三班守在外面，提供抗議者額外的保護 — 要去移動學生，警察必須先對這些國會議員動粗。在外頭，幾百人無視細雨，他們聽著演講以及歌曲，揮舞著人造的向日葵，呼喊著譴責政府、台灣總統馬英九。
